2019-05 GHSAT Cookout

By doing real maintenance and light repairs, students receive hands-on, “live work” experience throughout the course by performing full service oil changes, tire balance and mounting, brake inspection, wheel balancing, and computer diagnostic checks. Students work on staff, student, and donated vehicles.

Students taking the Maintenance and Light Repair course are prepared to take an "End Of Pathway Exam" after completing three semesters.  This Exam includes BMLR, MLR2 and MLR 3.

Students who pass the EOPA exam receive ASE Student certification in each area that the pass. The ASE student certification is good for two years and helps prepare the students for the workforce and ASE technician certification.

Gilmer High School Auto Tech alumni are currently working at several business in Ellijay and the surrounding communities in the auto repair industry.

This is an example of how our GHS Auto Tech program and course offerings prepare our students for real world occupations.

Mr. Ken Martin has initiated a program to develop a GHS Auto Tech Drag truck and expand the NHRA Jr Street driver program for the Students in the GHS Auto Tech program!

See details under the "NHRA JR STREET" tab on the EMC web site!
